January completely flew by and here we are already at the shortest month of the year. I always love the beginning of each month because it means a new Beauty Bar Sample Society box is headed my way!
If you're new to my blog or just want a refresher, Sample Society is a beauty subscription service offered by BeautyBar.com. They've teamed up with the folks at Allure to deliver five beauty samples to your door for $15 a month. The samples are generally deluxe size - meaning you can get more than one use out of them! The best part? Every month, you get a coupon code for $15 off a $50 purchase - as long as a brand from that month is in your order. Each box also comes with a mini-magazine from Allure, with helpful tips and tricks (related to the products you're getting). Also, a subscription to Sample Society includes a free year of Allure! I've been subscribing since their first month - March 2012. I have been impressed with EVERY SINGLE BOX. If you want to check out what I've gotten in other Sample Society boxes, feel free to click here!
This month's Sample Society was really impressive - they're always impressing me, but it seems this month they've really stepped up their game. I was blown away when I opened my box!

Alright, here's February 2013's Beauty Bar Sample Society box!
It's all about getting "set for date night with a head-to-toe glam regimen."
LaRocca Skincare Hibiscus Cream Cleanser with AHA: This creamy exfoliating cleanser with AHA rids skin of impureties, prepping it for Immunocologie VenoMax Treatment Creme. I love exfoliating cleansers, I'm all about getting the smoothest skin I can. I don't use any products with AHA right now, so hopefully if I try this out, I shouldn't have any sensitivities to it. This is a tiny sample, but will definitely be used.
Full Size: 120ml, $36.00 | Sample Value: 7ml, valued at $2.10
Immunocologie Treatment Creme VenoMax: A revolutionary formula tightens and brightens skin - so you'll glow even out of the candlelight. Okay, this stuff seems interesting. It's got a peptide complex that mimics viper venom, and elk antler velvet, which is very renewing for the skin. It's supposed to be firming and smoothing and brightening. And it's TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS. That's more than I'd ever spend on a moisturizer or treatment, EVER, but it sure is fun to try out. This sample is HUGE and therefore quite boosted the value of the box.
Full Size: 1.7oz, $275.00 | Sample Value: 0.5oz, valued at $80.88
(No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. THIS SAMPLE IS WORTH EIGHTY DOLLARS.)
Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse: Plump it up: the strand-expanding formula creates volume at the roots, making you a real head-turner. I really have enjoyed almost every Oscar Blandi product I've tried through Sample Society or other services. I also have really long, fine hair, meaning volume is always an issue for me. I can't wait to try this out!
Full Size: 6.3oz, $23.00 | Sample Value: 1oz, valued at $3.65
Diptyque Eau de Toilette in Eau Rose: You're not fully dressed for the big night without an irresistible scent straight from France. This is the third Diptyque sample I've received through Sample Society, and I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one. This is Eau Rose, which I was delighted to sniff because I love anything rose. Eau Rose is a new creation from Diptyque, and it's not even on Beauty Bar's website yet. Regarding the fragrance, here's what Diptyque has to say:
"Eau Rose, a totally new fragrance that pays tribute to the queen of flowers, the rose. Forever immortalized by Ronsard's famous poem 'Mignonne, allons voir si la rose...,' it was only a matter of time before Diptyque decided to showcase the rose. To get off the beaten track and create something different, the Eau Rose has been conceived to stand out as a genuine infusion of roses. Its olfactory composition is designed to celebrate the multiple aromas of the flower in its natural state, as it blossoms over time. It's like taking an olfactory stroll, which you savor from morning to night, by wearing a rose that changes as the hours go by and melts into the scent of the person wearing it."
Gorgeously enough, they're completely spot-on with this description. The fragrance starts off very light and green, and blooms into something more floral and sweet and ends on a delicate and heady note. It's really quite gorgeous and for the first time I've really thought long and hard about taking the $98 plunge on getting the full size. We shall see. :)
Full Size: 3.4oz, $98.00 | Sample Value: 0.06oz, valued at $1.73
Exude Lipstick Creme: With this sumptuous full-size lipstick, you'll make an unforgettable statement before you utter a word. Okay, this was another really impressive sample. I received Brown No. 4 and while that doesn't sound exciting for pale, fair me, it went on really neutral and had a forgiving finish and texture. The beautiful thing about this lipstick is that it looks like a lipstick, but dispenses through a tiny hole in the top. That way you're not nicking your lipstick on the cap, and it's a whole lot cleaner and more sophisticated presentation. This has a slightly minty flavor and feel, and is incredibly light and wearable on the lips. I'm really impressed with the fact that we got a full-size lipstick to try, and I really like how it feels when I put it on. Here's another Instagram collage:
Like I said, very natural looking despite the brownness of it! I also really love how sleek the packaging is.
Full Size: 1 lipstick, $29.00 | Sample Value: FULL SIZE! $29.00
Well, what an exciting and amazing box, right?
If you add up the sample value of everything, you'll see that this $15 box is actually worth:
$117.36.
How can you beat that?! What a great value!
